Shawnta S. Barnes, also known as Educator Barnes, is a K-12 education consultant through her company Blazing Brilliance LLC, an education writer and Editor-in-Chief of Indy Kids Winning, and host of the Brazen Education podcast. She is the recipient of the 2019 Indiana Black Expo Excellence in Education Journalism Award. Shawnta has previously served as a middle school academic dean, an English teacher, an English language learner teacher, a literacy coach, a librarian, and an adjunct college instructor. Jermaine J. Barnes is a senior Oracle database administrator for the State of Indiana. He enjoys playing basketball, sports with his children, and video games in his spare time. He also enjoys watching action and science fiction movies and anime.

Jerry Barnes and James Barnes are identical twins who enjoy playing sports with their dad and gardening with their mom. Their favorite food to eat includes pizza, tacos, and Brussels sprouts.
In his spare time, Jerry likes to write, read scary stories and mysteries, play games on his Chromebook, and attend Indiana Pacer basketball games.
